Pleated Blinds
Our Pleated blind collection has over 300 fabrics, ranging from contemporary style led fabrics to specialist performance fabrics to help with heat control.
The neat 20mm pleat of the fabric, creates an interesting appearance at the window and can be fitted within a recess or within the bead of a window. Available in freehang, roof blinds, half up, tabbed and PerfectFit® solutions, so you can find the right Pleated blind for any room in the house.
The blind for a conservatory roof
Pleated is the only blind on this page that'll sit comfortably in a sloping roof, which is why conservatory owners end up here. The 20mm pleat holds its shape against gravity, the fabric runs on tensioned side wires so it can't sag, and a roof panel can be split into bays so you shade the south side and leave the rest open.
It's also the quiet answer to a hot conservatory. Solar reflective backings bounce heat before it gets into the room, and the honeycomb constructions trap a layer of air that slows heat moving either way. A conservatory that was unusable in July and freezing in January usually comes back to life with roof pleats and nothing else changed.
Where else they go
Freehang for a standard window. Half up, half down for a bathroom or a front room on a pavement, where you want light at the top and privacy at the bottom. Tabbed for a shaped or angled opening. And Perfect Fit frames for UPVC, which clip into the beading with no drilling at all, so a pleated blind can go into a rented flat or a new conservatory without a single screw.
Fabrics
Over 300 in the collection, from plain contemporary weaves through to the performance fabrics that do the heat work. Blackout versions exist for bedrooms and loft conversions. Because the pleat is small, patterns read differently on a pleated blind than on a flat roller, so it's worth seeing the fabric pleated rather than off the roll, which is what the samples at the Thatcham showroom are for.
Controls and child safety
Cord, or a side chain, or motorised. A roof blind high above a dining table is the usual case for motorising, and we are Somfy certified, so it can run on battery or mains and join whatever system the rest of the house is on. Perfect Fit pleated blinds have no cords at all, which settles the child safety question outright. On the corded versions the BS EN 13120 breakaway devices and tensioners go on at the fit.
What pleated blinds cost
Priced per opening, and a roof is priced per panel. Fabric choice matters more here than on most blinds, because the performance and blackout cloths cost more than the plains, and a roof system costs more than a freehang of the same size because of the tensioning.
No price list, no deposit to get a quote. We come out, measure every panel, and give you the figure in writing on the day.
Common questions
Will they fix my conservatory being too hot?
They're the most effective thing we fit for it. Solar reflective roof pleats cut the gain at the glass rather than after it. Pair them with side blinds and the difference in a July afternoon is obvious.
Can you fit them to a lantern or a skylight?
A lantern usually wants the framed cellular system instead. See skylight and lantern blinds.
How do I clean them?
A soft brush or the upholstery head on a vacuum, gently. Pleated fabrics don't like being rubbed wet, which flattens the pleat.
Can they go in a shaped window?
Often, yes. Triangles, trapeziums and arches are all possible with tabbed or shaped systems, though a shaped blind usually operates manually rather than sliding freely. We check the geometry at the measure.
What is covered?
Twelve months from the date of order on the blind and the fitting, under clause 9.2 of our terms and conditions.
