Ultra modern LED Lighting and heaters can also be integrated into your awning, providing heat and comfort for all of those alfresco social gatherings!

All our automated awnings can be incorporated into your home automation system and can even be voice operated. Our Smartbox awnings are provided with wind sensors as standard, for auto retraction should a potentially damaging gust occur, giving the ultimate piece of mind.

Our awnings can be manufactured to suit any colour scheme, your awning cassette can be finished in any desired colour to match windows/doors. Our modern patterns are both eye catching and functional, branding is also possible for our commercial customers

Smartbox, and what the numbers mean

A Smartbox awning goes up to 18 metres wide in a single reach, with projections from 1.5 to 9 metres. Eighteen metres in one run is unusual: most domestic awnings are joined at that width, and a join shows. Nine metres of projection covers a whole terrace, so the shade reaches the table rather than sitting against the wall behind it.

They're British made, and the cassette can be finished in any colour, so it matches the window frames or the doors rather than being the one grey box on the back of the house. Fabrics run from plain through to modern patterns, and commercial customers can have branding printed into the cover.

Wind sensors come as standard

Worth saying plainly, because on most awnings they're an extra. Every Smartbox is supplied with a wind sensor, and it retracts the awning automatically when a gust gets strong enough to damage it. An awning left out in a sudden squall is the usual way an awning dies, and the sensor is the thing that stops the call where someone comes home to a bent arm.

Heat and light built in

LED lighting and heaters can be integrated into the cassette rather than bolted on afterwards. The practical effect is that the terrace works after dark and into September and October, which roughly doubles the number of evenings an awning gets used. Both run off the same control as the awning itself.

Automation

Every automated awning we fit can join a home automation system, including voice control. We're Somfy certified installers, so an awning can sit alongside the motorised blinds indoors on Lutron, Control4, Rako or Crestron, and run on a timer or a sun sensor if you want it managing itself.

What an awning costs

Priced by the installation, not off a list. Width and projection set the frame cost, then the fabric, then the cassette colour, then whether lighting, heating and sensors beyond the standard wind sensor are going in. Fixing matters too: a solid brick wall is straightforward, and a rendered or insulated wall needs through-fixings and more labour.

Common questions

How long is the guarantee?

Sixty months from the date of order, the longest cover we give on anything, under clause 9.2 of our terms and conditions. A call-out charge applies to awning warranty visits wherever you are.

Will it stand up to British weather?

Out, it's a sun shade and a light-rain shelter, not a roof. The wind sensor handles the gusts. For year-round cover you want a fixed structure, and a louvered roof pod is the thing we fit for that.

Can it go on a conservatory or a bungalow?

It depends on what's behind the render and how much height there is above the doors. That's the first thing we check on the visit, and we'll tell you straight if the wall won't carry it.

What about a shop front?

Yes, and that's where the 18-metre single reach and the printed branding come in. We quote commercial and domestic the same way.

Does it need servicing?

Brush the cover down a couple of times a season and let it dry before retracting it. Beyond that, nothing annual.
